Paris - USI 2012 Session
When Computers become empathic
Computers now have abilities to recognize emotion - to see if customers are confused, disagreeing, bored, interested, or delighted.
This talk will show several new technologies that can be used today. Demonstrations will include using a webcam to read facial expressions of people watching media and advertisements online, for example to see what makes women vs. men frown or smile. A new wearable sensor that measures emotional arousal will also be shown: this can be used for measuring how your body is affected by stress or medication, and has many health applications in pharmaceuticals, in autism, and in clinical research. In addition, the same technology can be used to measure stress or calmness of customers while shopping, or while using a new product or service, helping identify subtle things that matter, which people may not be able to express on a questionnaire.
How will your business change as technology can sense and respond to emotion? This talk will describe several possibilities for the future.
