USI 2009 Session
Cloud computing according to Microsoft
Microsoft recently unveiled Azure, a Cloud Computing platform composed of a suite of services which execute applications in immense data centres on a pay-as-you-go basis. With Cloud Computing, companies no longer own their servers, but hand them over to companies that guarantee computing power and storage on demand.
In this presentation, we will examine Windows Azure, Microsoft’s “Cloud” OS, and the services which complete the Azure platform. We will do a brief comparison with Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) offer to help you understand how these two offers are architecturally different.
We will finish with a discussion of the advantages of Cloud Computing for companies and why they should take an interest in it.
