USI 2009 Session
Working with Ruby on Rails
Ruby on Rails is a framework for developing Web applications. It contains all the ingredients necessary to construct a Web application according to good professional practices. The guiding principles of this framework are adopting conventions (rather than configuration) and a strong commitment to simplicity, concision and intuitive operation. All these principles help developers focus on business problems earlier in the game.
This session will focus on the development of a sample application in agile mode in order to highlight:
- productivity gains offered by Rails
- the suitability of this framework for the business world
You will see the solutions it offers to the problems encountered in a Web application’s life cycle: setting up tests, upgrading the database diagram, deploying the application. Here’s another opportunity to learn to apply excellence.
