USI 2009 Session
IS security & Governance: can we combine "control" and "trust"?
Information System Security is often perceived as the spoilsport, often caricatured as "everything is forbidden" people. This perception obscures how fragile our systems are. But one can confuse between the power of trust that security can bring and the uncomfortable security measures it often generates.
Security is precisely what enables collaboration, exchanges and productivity. Without walls, anyone can destroy anything.
But on the other side, "forbidding everything by default" might not be THE solution. Our organizations need waterproof walls AND unexpected collaborations (Wikipedia ...). So beyond this polarized debate, we'll talk on how to best position Security Management in the IS Governance.
