USI 2009 Session
Computing director plan, making dreams reality in commerce
The supermarket sector is known for its strong business culture and its short time scale. It also has a number of unique characteristics when it comes to in-depth and complex transformations to its information systems.
Working for Groupe Casino for eight years, as both players in the Master Plan and responsible for store support, we were required to reconcile the goals of transformation with the everyday reality of doing business. Contrary to what is generally taught, the difficulty in completely overhauling an IS isn't technical, but human and organisational.
Through concrete, current examples and based on actual successes and failures, this session will help you better understand the tension between plans and reality, and the reflexes you need to take a transformation from an idea to reality.
