USI 2009 Session
“We can’t go into the forest, there are werewolves!” – Stories on how to diffuse testing in your IS
Because we all make mistakes, there is no such thing as zero risk. When we decide to steer our projects based on risk, we realise that we can reduce risks considerably using tests.
And when we talk about tests, everyone agrees to write some, but then many myths arise. The good news is that beyond these illusions there are ways to diffuse these practices in your entire IS, regardless of your organisation, legacies or process.
This session will examine the stakes tests pose: what types of test, who is involved, how they work together, and how to test throughout the software’s lifetime. We will then examine the myths that prevent us from establishing these practices, thanks to the experiences of IS players who have been able to move beyond these myths. Last, we will explain the first steps we generally encounter when distributing IS test practices.
