The IS value issue arises again and again. It is clear that the IS represents a major share of a company's intangible capital, just like trademarks and patents.
Still, how many times haven’t we listened to the halting explanations of an application manager on its value or recognised the incomprehension of an operational director on the benefits sought by a project?
Talking about the value of the IS asset is often reduced to a list of features, or worse, to a functional architecture design, a million miles from value, in the financial sense of the term.
Based on a concrete case, this session will illustrate a variety of approaches for evaluating an IS’s value, borrowing a few concepts from finance.
