“À L’USI, on cultive l’art de la rencontre”

Albert Jacquard
Keynotes 2009

OCTO technology, delivering professional services for information technology services, decided in 2008 to organize a great IT event in Paris that would gather technicians and managers of the Information System Management. Octo decided to link up with key actors of the sector to supply all the participants with quality content.

The University of the Information System was born.

More than 350 persons have trusted us for this 1st edition, encouraging us to repeat it each year. It’s a made thing and the University of the Information System became USI and is today the annual meeting of Geeks and Bosses wishing to create Information Technologies that transform our society.

Above all, this event is dedicated to a community who adheres to this objective. Each session that we suggest you has been thought, worked out and in order to satisfy each participant. But USI is also a moment of sharing and conviviality to discuss, learn and exchange with professionals and IT-lovers on subjects you’re interested in.

During the past editions, USI has received the most brilliant French and international speakers in order to talk about the past and the stakes of modern computing science. Get ready to be surprised by the talks of Michel Serres, Elyahu Goldratt, Albert Jacquard, Luc de Brabandère or Neil Armstrong !

This major event of the IT sector lies now in the hands of some actors sharing the same frame of mind and the same ambition. With the creation of the USI Club in 2010, OCTO opened the organization of USI to actors sharing the event convictions and spirit. Generali, Axa, BCG, Orange, Société Générale, Crédit Agricole CIB and news actors this year Allianz and SFR are the USI Club members.

Implementing thus OCTO beloved openness and sharing principles, this initiative aims at favoring the association of talents to turn USI into an open and contributory IT event, where it is as important to contribute as to participate.

Members share the objective of USI: “A conference for Geeks and Bosses wishing to create Information Technologies that transform our society”.

  • Carrying out in the same event the strategic evolutions of architecture thoughtfulness and governance enables us, each year, to step back on our trade and better anticipate innovations to come. Beyond the pleasure of an experience taking us out of our everyday’s life, taking part in the preparation with the other members of the club allows us to shape the event on subjects and concerns of the MIS. Doing a session at USI is a challenge which I took on without hesitation

  • Xavier Boileau, Front Office Engineering, Architecture and Innovation Director of Generali.
  • USI is the referenced event to think about IS in France […]. The USI Club offers the possibilities for companies to have their team (20 persons or more) participate at the University of IS enabling them to question the means of working in a concrete way.

  • Antoine Gourevitch, Vice President Boston Consulting Group, Director of IT practice
  • The real challenge of the system information management in Crédit Agricole CIB is to industrialize “the factory” while developing our services’ offer agility. Indeed, IT has to permanently adapt to intern customers’ needs and to focus immediately on what really brings them value. USI embodies this exchange place which tosses around theory and practice, which allows us to challenge our ideas with Geeks and Bosses, that is to say, to remain innovative!

  • Pierre Dulon, CEO Crédit Agricole CIB
  • I am glad that our group joins the USI Club, which will allow us to share with our peers the main upcoming technological and societal challenges and to create value in our exchanges. Computer science is a key element of companies from the banking sector. It is a strategic resource, which has to help us in this context of important changes, to transform, simplify our ways of working and to set up contact with our clients and more largely our stakeholders.

  • Françoise Mercadal-Delasalles, Human resources director from the group Société Générale and member of the executive board.
