Diplôma : École Spéciale Militaire Saint-Cyr, Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris, École Supérieure de Guerre, Licence of History.
Henri Bentegeat was in command of armored unities of the army in Germany, Africa and France from 1968 to 1988.
He played the role of Colonel for the Infantry Regiment and the RICM from 1988 to 1990.
He was the military representative in Washington (USA) from 1990to 1992, he served as tha particular Chief of Defense staff for both Mitterrand (1993-1995) and Chirac (1995-1996) presidents.
Then he was appointed as the General in the French Antilles (1996-1998), particular Chief of the Defense staff for Chirac president (1998-2002) and General d’armée and Chief of Defense staff for armies (2002-2006).
Ha was president of the military council gathering the different chiefs of the de defense staff of the EU, in Brussels from 2006 to 2009.
He is also Grand Officier de la Légion d’Honneur.
